About
This is Blog is about me, you, America and the future of our beloved country.
I was born in Budapest, Hungary and am a refugee and an immigrant but most of all I am proud to be an American…by choice.
My family and I arrived in the United States on Christmas Eve 1956 and every member of my family worked hard and studied to become a US citizen, which we all became in 1963…by choice. We wanted to be Americans which we are and we all learned the English, which is the language spoken in America.
In the coming pages of this blog I will share with you some of my experiences and what it means to me to be an American. I will also share with you my opinions on what I see that is wrong in America and what needs to be done to fix it.
I have had a full life and have traveled to numerous countries all over the world and I will be the first to admit that our planet is a beautiful place. I have seen the Alps in Switzerland, the fjords in Norway and the Adriatic Sea in Croatia. I have been to Iraq and to Kuwait as well as Bosnia and Turkey and even to Vietnam. I’ve lived in Germany, California, New Jersey, Bosnia, Iraq, Hungary as well as Ohio.
I have seen the Grand Canyon and Niagara Falls, Death Valley and the Pacific Coast all the way up into the Redwoods. I’ve seen the Rocky Mountains and the monuments of Sedona. I have been to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and have visited numerous monuments in Washington D.C. including the Vietnam War Memorial.
You and I are very fortunate to live in such a beautiful country with so many beautiful sights and natural resources. We are truly blessed and it is a unique gift to be an American. Many countries hate us, and most for the wrong reasons and many are just plain jealous of who we are and what we have. Those that hate us, in some way I’m sure we can thank our politicians. I say that because Americans in general are a peace loving people who donate more time and money to charities and the oppressed throughout the world than any other nation.
No matter where I have been or where I might go in the future I am always at peace and more relaxed when I come back home to America. This is my home and I am proud of it. We aren’t perfect but there is no other place I would rather live then in the USA.
I am fortunate to have not been born in the USA because my family and I became citizens not because of birth but because of choice. Many Americans who have never left home and have never been to a foreign country have no idea what they have here. They take their Freedom and their rights for granted.
It appears to me that many Americans are ignorant to the world around them and political correctness is going to be America’s downfall if something isn’t done soon. The media can’t be trusted and people have no idea about the danger that our country is in and what damage the politicians have done and are continuing to do our country.
I am convinced that the current administration is taking us down the road of self destruction. The change that we are getting is not the change that I want nor is it in the best interest of America and the majority of Americans. I only say majority because there are some on the other side that are benefiting from the current situation as is always the case.
Our deficit is increasing at an alarming rate and no one in Washington is taking it seriously enough to take the necessary action to fix it. It is a time bomb that is one the verge of exploding.
You might ask, who the heck I think I am to say what is in the best interest of our country and what experience and qualifications do I have to try to influence you about the situation in America.
All I can say is that I was born in a communist country and my mother was a Freedom Fighter. We escaped from Hungary not because we didn’t love our country, but because we wanted to be Free. My mother didn’t want to live under a communist regime and if we would have stayed there, there was a very good chance that she would have been executed.
It is with a sad heart that I say this, but in the 55 years that I have lived in America it appears to me that our current politicians are taking us in the direction of socialism and communism. That is exactly what my family escaped from.
I invite you to check out this blog occasionally and if you have an opinion, please share it with me and my readers. If you have a story to tell that is relevant to this topic, please share it with us.
The most important election that America ever had is going to be in November 2012. My goal is to educate as many people as possible so that they make the right decision when they go into that voting booth. Every vote is crucial.
I want to make sure for my children’s sake that America will continue to be the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave and the Beacon of Freedom for the rest of the world.
I’m counting on you and your input.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
